Humanities Puzzles

Congrats to the Black 90, Yellow 26, Red 18, Brown 3, and Pink 73 teams for completing Round 1!

Okay, Tim thought. I guess I’ll have to get my ship fixed myself. He stood up dizzily. I can do this. He walked slowly over to his spaceship. The parts, actually, looked mostly intact; it was just that none of them were connected to each other anymore. How about the fuel tanks? Not as good: they had some big holes in them. And the fuel… Oh, no.

The fuel was in the worst shape of all. Pages were torn out of the books, and the papers were singed and ripped. He scrambled to pick them up. Technically, the ship didn’t need the information that powered it to be written down. If he thought about the facts hard enough, just his brain would do it. But when he picked up the pages, his head swam. Even the words that didn’t have burn marks seemed illegible, and he felt dizzier than ever. He sat back down.

One of the aliens came closer. It was hard to read its expression, but Tim almost thought it looked concerned.

“I’m okay,” he reassured it, “Don’t worry! But the issue is that my spaceship runs on knowledge, and all my books are destroyed… if I can’t put the pieces back together, I’ll never be able to get home.”
